Chimpanzees in Context

Directions

You have several options to travel from the official conference hotel (the Sheraton Hotel and Towers) to Lincoln Park Zoo (2.6 mi/4.18 km).

Taxi

this will be about a 10 minute ride, and will likely cost around $15, including tip.

Note: In Chicago, it is customary to tip taxi drivers 10-15% of the fare.

Uber

Uber operates in Chicago, so you can also use the app to book an Uber car, taxi or UberX

Bus (22 minutes)

Walk about 6 min to the intersection of Michigan & Hubbard. Take the #151 north to Stockton & Armitage.

Walk (about 50 minutes)

There is a lovely bike/running trail that connects Navy Pier to Lincoln Park Zoo along Lake Michigan. The directions below are a useful guide, but when you near the zoo, it might be easiest to ask passerby to point you towards the zoo proper (as the whole area is known as “Lincoln Park”)

Head west on E North Water St towards N Park Dr

Turn right on N Park Dr

Turn right onto E Illinois St

Turn left on Lakefront Trail

Once you find yourself on the Lakefront trail, continue north: eventually you will pass an area with outdoor chess boards to the left, and then a permanent boat/restaurant on the lake to your right.

Keep an eye out for the pedestrian bridge over Lakeshore Drive to your left, a short distance after the boat.

Cross the bridge and turn right – you should find yourself at the south end of the Lincoln Park Zoo parking lot.

Walk north through the parking lot until you reach the East Entrance to Lincoln Park Zoo.
